Research team of Christoph Brabec at FAU demonstrates that flexible organic tandem solar modules can achieve 6 % efficiency! NEW

2014/9/29

Research team of Christoph Brabec at Friedrich Alexander Universität Erlangen Nürnberg (FAU) published their latest research results for organic solar cells in Energy & Environmental Science, demonstrating that flexible organic tandem solar modules can achieve 6 % power conversion efficiency by combining roll-to-roll compatible processing at temperatures < 70℃ with high geometric fill factors.

Prof. Christoph J. Brabec, is a materials scientist with expertise in the fields of organic photovoltaics. In 1996, he took a sabbatical at the Institute for Polymers & Organic Solids at the University of California, Santa Barbara to work with Prof. Alan J. HEEGER (Nobel laureate 2000). It is particularly worth mentioning that, according to Thomson Reuters released data in materials science (ranked by citation impact scores for their papers including articles and reviews), prof. Christoph J. Brabec is identified as one of the world’s top materials scientists by achieving the citation impact score of 98.65 during the period of 2000 - 2010.

With the development of organic solar cells, in the year of 2013, the team of Christoph Brabec chose Enlitech’s QE-R Spectral Response/Quantum Efficiency measurement system to conduct their research. We are pleasured to know that our QE-R system can be of great use for our customer’s research work! For more information about the research paper, please refer to the following abstract and efficiency measurement figures:

Prof. Christoph Brabec uses Enlitech’s QE-R system to measure the external quantum efficiency (EQE) for organic solar cells. Our QE system was mentioned in the published paper “Flexible organic tandem solar modules with 6 % efficiency: combining roll-to-roll compatible processing with high geometric fill factors.” in Energy & Environmental Science Journey on July 29th 2014.
